Custom Options

A custom made template is the best way to get exactly the colour scheme that matches your company logos but the main aim here is to be unique.  To have something that no one else has makes your site look and feel much more personal. There are many things that can be changed, probably too many to list but I shall try to list the main options to help you decide.  I will list them in the order that I use when designing a template.

Colour scheme.

Colour scheme is based around 3 colours but during the build other colours can be added.  The added colours are usually to highlight certain areas on the style sheet i.e. Top of the menu blocks, top menu bar, header backgrounds and footers. All text, article headings, links to highlight when you hover over them and after you have visited them.

Overall width of a template / style sheet.

Here I advise to keep it under 1024 pixels because not everyone runs in high resolution and you want you site to fit on a full screen.  Resolutions under 1024 x 768 are very common these days.  Style sheets can be solid colours or transparent allowing the background pattern or pictures to show through.  This has to be carefully adjusted as the pattern can spoil the ability to read what is written in articles but is very effective.

Columns

The choices here are to have 1, 2 or 3 columns in which to place your content.  Without columns you are limited to placing menu modules and content modules but by having 3 columns you can limit the space to display photo galleries and other large items.  Using Joomla correctly you can choose to not display modules on all pages but this becomes quite complicated.

We have a much easier solution, with every custom designed template we can supply 3 versions of your personal design one with 3 columns one with 2 columns and one with only a main article section (top menu has to be enabled to use) and this gives you the option to assign templates to certain menu items.  Left and right columns can be made different widths too.

The background.

Here there are many options, from using hires photography, patterns over colours, plain colours, glare images from the top, sides and along the bottom.  Glare images are on some of my templates look at the top left corners and across the top.  Most of my templates have a coloured background with over layed pattern.

The menu blocks.

the more modern looking rounded corners on menu blocks gives the site an up to date look.  The shape is made by having a border around the menu block.  Some prefer not to have borders which makes the menu appear as a list.  On the top of menus is usually a block with the title of the menu or module name.  A small icon at the begining of this block gives a more personal look to the site.  I have added the internet explorer favourites icon to default template used on this site.

Fonts.

Fonts in any area of your template can be all the same or all different this is down to personal choice.  For instance: If say an old listed Church located in England wanted to have it's own website it would look very in keeping if the font for article headings was done in "old english" but to have this font used in all articles would probably make the article very difficult to read.  This is possible to use different fonts throughout the template for all areas.

How To Order a Custom Template

Send me an email expressing your desire to have a template designed just for you.  Include as much information about your company or what your site is about.  If you have a site already include a link so I can view it, this will help me get a feel for what is required.  If you already know the hexadecimal colour codes include these as well.  At the bottom of this page is a tool to help you identify or choose the correct colour codes.

I will reply as soon as possible and send further details so we can talk to discuss your needs.

Pricing

If you like a pre made template and would just like to change the colour scheme or have a small amount of alterations made this will cost £20.00

For a from scratch build the price will depend on how much work is involved and if it is an exclusive to you only design.  Once I know exactly what you want I can then give you a price.

Once I start designing your personal template I will send pictures so you see the progress and even upload it to a testsite so you can see it on a live site.

I believe that my personal attention to detail and my willingness to strive for customer satisfaction will result in your being extremely pleased with the results.
